Negative Ions

In natural environments, negative ions are generated by the lightning in thunderstorms, and by cascading water in a stream or by falling water in a waterfall. Positive ions become predominant in closed spaces with metal air conditioning or heating ducts strip the negative ions from the air - and when dry winds like the Santa Anna, Chinook, Mistral, Sirocco or Foehn are blowing across the land.
